Our material standards
Where our fabrics come from, who finishes them, and why we still print a swatch card before signing off on a season.
Materials are where a garment is decided. Pattern, fit, and finish matter — but if the cloth is wrong, no amount of tailoring saves it. We spend the largest single line of our production budget on fabric, and most of our sample time on getting the hand right.
Our linens come from two mills in northern Portugal that have been weaving the same staple lengths for three generations. We work directly with both, send swatches back twice before each season, and visit the floor when a new finish is being trialed.
For wool we source from a single grower co-op in New Zealand, milled in Italy. For cotton, a long-staple supplier in Egypt who supplies a handful of small studios like ours. We do not chase the cheapest yard. We chase the yard that survives ten years of laundry.
